Deep Energy Capital LLP (“Deep Energy”), an independent investment firm specializing in geothermal energy, announced today the appointment of two new partners to the investment team. 

Dan Phillipson, Managing Partner at Deep Energy, said: “Helen and James are extraordinary additions to the Deep Energy leadership team and bring a depth of renewable and geothermal energy specific expertise to our investors. With extensive deal experience across geographies and technologies, their investment acumen and considerable experience will be instrumental in our aim of catalysing €5 billion in investment to generate clean heating and electricity for over a million homes and avoid over 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 annually.” 

Helen Downie joins from Foresight Group, where she was an investment director leading renewable energy investments across the capital structure. James McNaught-Davis joins from Modular Geothermal Power and Green Energy Geothermal where he led geothermal investments in Southeast Asia and Africa, and he was previously a partner at WHEB partners and Warburg Pincus. 

“There is a clear imperative for clean, locally generated energy that is not subject to the variability of the weather or impeded by geopolitics events. We intend to help address that need as technical advances over the last decade have made geothermal energy generation a scalable solution that we can develop across geographies.
