Deep Energy Capital announces the appointment of Dr. Volker Simon as Partner and Head of Asset Management

Deep Energy Capital LLP (“Deep Energy”), an independent infrastructure investment firm specializing in geothermal energy, announced today the appointment of Dr. Volker Simon as Partner.
Dan Phillipson, Managing Partner at Deep Energy, said: “Volker is a significant addition to the Deep Energy leadership team with decades of expertise from the oil and gas industry, including 30 years with Shell plc. He has planned, executed, and overseen complex onshore and offshore drilling programs across four continents. Our investment partners will benefit from his extensive drilling, project management and geological acumen.”
Dr. Simon has led oil and gas projects for both oil and gas majors and independent producers with experience across countries including Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Netherlands, UK, US, Nigeria, Argentina, Oman and Tunisia. He has built and led large, multidisciplinary technical teams executing onshore and offshore drilling, integrated well design, subsurface evaluation, geophysical surveys and field development planning. As General Manager at Shell, Volker oversaw and led HSSE, Social Performance, and non-technical risk assessments across Shell’s upstream and integrated gas projects and new ventures. Volker holds a PhD in Geology from the University of Cologne (Germany) and an executive MBA from IMD (Switzerland).
