Deep Energy Capital LLP (“Deep Energy”), an independent investment firm specializing in geothermal energy, announced today the appointment of Dr Sonia Scarselli, BHP’s VP of the Xplor Program and former VP of Exploration and Appraisal, to its Advisory Council.

ABOUT DR SONIA SCARSELLI 

Dr. Scarselli is Vice President of BHP’s newly formed BHP Xplor Program that seeks out innovative and breakthrough mineral exploration opportunities through a portfolio of early stage, pre-commercial start-ups. Prior to this role, Dr. Scarselli held several commercial and operational leadership roles at BHP including VP of Exploration and Appraisal, Head of Algeria, Exploration and Appraisal Chief of Staff, and Manager Exploration Trinidad and Tobago. Before joining BHP, she started her career in the oil industry at ExxonMobil UK in a number of exploration and geology roles. She holds a master’s degree in Geological Science from Università degli studi di Perugia, a PhD in Geology from ETH Zurich and an MBA from the London Business School. Sonia serves as advisor at Deep Energy Capital, the American Cancer Society, CEOs Against Cancer Chapter since 2020, and the AAPG Advisory Council since 2019.
